Minnesota Rural Health ConferenceWith over 600 rural health stakeholders participating annually, the Minnesota Rural Health Conference is one of the nation's largest state rural health conferences. The conference is hosted by the Minnesota Department of Health, Office of Rural Health & Primary Care; Minnesota Rural Health Association; and the National Rural Health Resource Center — annually seeks to support, connect and inspire rural health professionals and leaders from across the state as they work toward the goal of building healthy communities.
The 2025 conference theme was Innovation & Transformation, with a focus on sharing innovative strategies, outcomes, and resources that will accelerate the transformation to a more integrated and sustainable rural health system and offered attendees opportunities:

2025 Emerging Rural Health Leader Award
Nominations are now open!
The Minnesota Emerging Rural Health Leader Award is given annually to an individual who has emerged as “leading the charge” to improve rural health on a local, regional, or statewide level.
Nomination criteria:
- The emphasis of the award is on recognizing a student or a health professional early in their career who has emerged as a leader in improving rural health on a local, regional, or statewide basis. This person is "leading the charge".
- The nominee must be:
- A student working toward a career in rural health who has already shown a personal commitment to, and a desire for, improving rural health here in Minnesota. Or,
- An individual, still early in their career, employed by an organization that serves the health needs of rural Minnesotans.
The award will be announced on National Rural Health Day, November 20, 2025.
